5-Day Detailed & Hands-On Curriculum

Every day = 30–45 min theory + 3–4 hours intense hardware labs + simulation mirroring + debugging + mission on real Jetson hardware.

Day 1

Perception Upgrade Party + Rover & Humanoid Kickoff

High-energy start: robot race challenge + sensor reveal

  • Welcome back + quick recap video montage from Level 1 missions
  • Exciting sensor unboxing: depth camera, LiDAR-lite, force sensors
  • Upgrade Rover & Humanoid hardware (mounting, wiring, calibration)
  • Install & run OpenCV + basic TensorRT inference on Jetson Orin
  • 30-min fun challenge: Make Rover & Humanoid detect & react to colored flags
  • Quick Dog sensor refresh & multi-robot sync demo

Mission: “Object Hunt” – Rover & Humanoid track & approach colored targets (primary focus on both).

Day 2

Rover Navigation + Humanoid Balance & Recovery

  • Odometry fusion (encoders + IMU) on Rover
  • Implement smooth trajectory following & local obstacle avoidance
  • Advanced Humanoid balance: add arm swing compensation, push-recovery logic
  • Tune PID gains live on Jetson hardware
  • Humanoid gripper calibration & basic pick/place test
  • Dog used for formation testing only

Mission: “Rough Terrain Traverse” – Rover leads flat paths, Humanoid handles uneven terrain + survives pushes.

Day 3

Path Planning & Mapping (Rover + Humanoid)

  • Build occupancy grid & simplified A*/DWA planner on Rover
  • Humanoid adapts paths considering arm reach & balance constraints
  • Real-time mapping with Jetson-accelerated compute
  • Test dynamic obstacle avoidance
  • Dog demos rough-terrain following as reference

Mission: “Maze Explorer Relay” – Rover maps/plans, Humanoid executes tight spaces.

Day 4

ROS 2 Coordination & Team Behaviors

  • ROS 2 Humble installation on Jetson
  • Create topics, services, actions for Rover–Humanoid communication
  • Implement task handoff & supervisor node
  • Dog joins as third agent for full team relay testing
  • Heavy integration & debugging session

Mission: “Collaborative Rescue” – Rover scouts, Humanoid retrieves, Dog clears path.

Day 5

Advanced Capstone & Professional Showcase

  • Morning: Full-system integration & stress testing
  • Run complete USAR mission in complex arena
  • Collect logs, run times, failure analysis
  • Prepare 10-minute presentation (ROS 2 architecture, trade-offs, demo)
  • Ethics deep-dive discussion
